An annual New Year's Eve event for us to thank God for His goodness as a church and seek His face for the new year. Thur Jan 1 • 10pm • City Mission Church (30th floor, High Street Centre)A Solemn AssemblyIn light of the deepening financial crisis, the Church must rise up to responsibly pray Singapore through this difficult time – just as we did in 2003 with SARS – so that God's redemptive purpose might be marvellously fulfilled. To this end, the churches in Singapore will be calling forth its pastors, Christian leaders and intercessors within each respective prayer networks to come together in a Solemn Assembly. Join us as we turn to God in unity and humility through a corporate time of repentance, worship, reading of the Word, communion, intercession and fasting. There will be six waves of prayer, each anchored by a prayer leader associated with the National Prayer Alliance (NPA). As a church, Cornerstone has been appointed the 10pm–12midnight watch, led by our senior pastor, Rev. Yang Tuck Yoong. We encourage all of you to stand with our brothers and sisters on this day and be a part of this crucial prayer alliance for our nation. Mark these dates and see you there!Cornerstone Community Church

Yang Tuck YoongSermon: Understanding Spiritual AuthorityOne of the key revelations that God is unfolding to His Body in the last days is the fact that His Church is called to be a well-trained and equipped fighting force. But for an army to be well-trained, it needs to understand authority structures, rank and covering. This message is a call for us to prepare for battle as we cross over into 2009. We must be prepared now for some of the greatest battles ahead of us.This week is Communion Sunday. Do come with your hearts prepared to receive the Lord's Supper.

DAY OF THANKSGIVING
A day to reflect and give thanks to the Lord for all He has done. Come join us in this special celebration as we give our heartfelt thanksgiving to God and to one another!

10.30amBAHASA SERVICEVenue: Theatrette 2Odeon Katong
Speaker: Peter SamSermon: The Folly of Not Trusting God
Many of us, at the first sign of danger, will look to any "Egyptian" for help, rely on "horses", trust in "chariots" - because they are many, and in "horsemen" because they are perceived as strong. What do these metaphors actually represent in our circumstances? It is God's desire for everyone to trust Him wholeheartedly and not to water down our faith as we continue to walk with Him.

10.30amFILIPINO SERVICEVenue: Theatrette 1 Odeon Katong
Speaker: Ps. Hazeil MinozaSermon: Upward Vision
Everyone has a vision in life – whether you choose to live a life unrestrained, undedicated, and uncontrolled, or a life filled with godly vision that leads to health, wholeness, and prosperity. God inspires us with vision through the Holy Spirit. Godly vision is not self-centered, but carries a burden for the glory and honor of God's Word. That is the kind of vision that He wants to put within our heart. A vision that honours God and advances His kingdom will ultimately bless us.

10.30amBURMESESERVICEVenue: Level 3 Foyer Creche
Speaker: Ps. Saw ThihaSermon: Vision Casting 2009
In closing this year, Pastor Saw Thiha will be casting a vision for 2009 and calling the people to prepare themselves for the exciting work God is about to do in the new season. God's heart is for the Myanmarese living in Singapore, and He desires us to come alongside Him to be a part of this vision to reach the lost and disciple the saved.

1.00pmYOUTH SERVICEVenue: Main AuditoriumOdeon Katong
Speaker: Ps. Daniel ChuaSermon: Stand
Paul concluded his letter to the Ephesians encouraging the believers to stand. That is our posture in warfare. It means to make a firm decision to hold on and never let go of the victory which Christ has already won for us. Our greatness will never be known until we finish the journey!

2.00pmAFRICAN SERVICEVenue: Theatrette 1Odeon Katong
Speaker: Pastor John EkundayoSermon: The Zeal of Zachaeus
From the account of Luke 19:1-10, we can clearly see the zeal in Zachaeus. Though materially rich, he knew he was one of the poorest in the spirit and did not allow his earthly riches and popularity to deceive him. Zachaeus had a desire to see Jesus despite the odds and decided to do the unusual. As we draw closer to 2009, we need to emulate the zeal of Zachaeus. Darkness will indeed cover the earth, but God's glory will shine on those who pursue him passionately with a pure heart.

English Services Dec 7. 2008
1st service • 8.30am Speaker: Ps. Lim Lip YongSermon: Stirring Up the Gift of God
It is amazing to see how varied and diverse the people of God are who make up the church. No matter what our backgrounds might be, our age, color or creed, God has uniquely gifted each one of us. However, these gifts and talents that are given to us also comes with a responsibility, and it is our responsibility to see that we produce fruits to God. The consequence of not using our gifts for God is unthinkable, and at the same time, we are exhorted to stir up the gifts in our lives.

2nd service • 10.30amGuest Speaker: Evangelist Carl Butler
Carl is the founder of "Fan the Flame" ministries, a ministry which partners with local churches and ministries to plan and conduct evangelistic crusades, conferences and camps to win the lost, and equip and release people to serve the Lord. Born in Hawera, New Zealand, Carl received Jesus as his Saviour at age seven and at 16, had an encounter with the Holy Ghost that transformed his life. After a powerful call to ministry in his early 20's, God led him to Australia where he pioneered several growing ministries and pastored Glad Tidings City Church in Brisbane.
A zealous preacher with a burning passion for revival, Carl is a relevant and dynamic communicator who imparts great faith in God's provision and healing power, having himself seen God perform many exciting miracles. He has now traveled to almost 40 countries, spoken in well over 300 churches, as well as outdoor crusades, and has ministered to thousands of people. His passion is to see men and women saved, healed, set free and filled with the Holy Ghost, Churches impacting their community, and God being glorified.

10.30amMANDARINSERVICEVenue: #02-34Katong Audi
Speaker: Ps. Samuel WongSermon: Making a Stand (part 3)
We are in the midst of a great battle. This is not a battle against flesh and blood but against principalities and powers. We know the outcome of the war because the Bible already declared the end of all things. Jesus reigns! The question is: Who will reign with Him? Will you? In Ephesians 6, we're told these few words – stand against the wiles of the devil, withstand in the evil day, therefore stand. Standing is the determinant for victory. Will you start standing by making a stand for Jesus!

10.30amBAHASA SERVICEVenue: Theatrette 2Odeon Katong
Speaker: Ps. Freddy RumySermon: Being Thankful & Giving God First Place
The present economic crisis and the difficult times that we're living in now has already been foretold in the Word of God by His prophets of old and the Lord has permitted this to happen. So how can we weather through these trying times? It's in learning to be thankful and to give God first priority in our lives. Only then can He be our assurance and well-being. Let's learn what it means to be truly thankful and how we're to honor God by according Him first place.

10.30amFILIPINO SERVICEVenue: Theatrette 1 Odeon Katong
Speaker: Ps. Hazeil MinozaSermon: The Trial of Our Faith
Paul mentioned in 2 Cor 1:8-9 that all the pressures and hardships that came upon him and his traveling companions were for a very important reason – that they would no longer trust in themselves, but in God. God tries our faith to convince us of our needs. We need to be persuaded through many shortcomings, weaknesses, and trials that our human strength is insufficient, and that we cannot make it on our own. May we learn to embrace God's grace and strength so that we can make it all the way.

10.30amBURMESESERVICEVenue: Level 3 Foyer
Speaker: Ps. Saw ThihaSermon: The King's Table in the Presence of Our Enemies
The psalmist says in Ps 23:5, "You prepare a table before me in the presence of my enemies." Our God is faithful especially when we are facing crisis & enemies in our lives. In Rev 3:20, if we hear His voice and open the door for Him, He will come in to us, then He will invite us to dine at His table. If we abide in Him, He will also abide in us and the enemy cannot overcome us. Jesus has won the victory and He invites us to sit with Him at His table.

1.00pmYOUTH SERVICEVenue: Main AuditoriumOdeon Katong
Speaker: Ps. Daniel ChuaSermon series: Unwrapping Christmas – The Unwanted Gift
About nine months before the first Christmas, God intervened in human affairs and radically altered Mary’s plans with an unwanted gift. She planned on getting married, having children and raising a family. It was a good plan. But God came along and "messed things up". Will you allow yourself to be bothered by God’s interruptions this Christmas? Will you accept His unwanted gift? Just think what loss our world would have suffered if Mary hadn't accepted God’s unwanted gift.
2.00pmAFRICAN SERVICEVenue: Theatrette 1Odeon Katong
Guest Speaker: Evangelist Carl ButlerSermon: 4 Keys to the Miraculous
Jesus promises us greater works as we believe. Join Evangelist Carl Butler, founder of "Fan the Flame" ministries, as he shares on four keys to the miraculous. Carl is a zealous preacher with a burning passion for revival. Having himself seen God perform many exciting miracles in the course of his life and ministry, his testimonies will impart great faith in God's provision and healing power.
SaturdayLife! A new Saturday evening service of Cornerstone Community Church Every Saturday, 5-7pm @ Katong Audi #02-34 THIS WEEK DECEMBER 6A Battle of WordsSpeaker: Ps. Lim Lip Yong
The Scriptures makes it known to us that we are all involved in a spiritual battle that is not of flesh and blood. None is exempted from this battle and neither can we sit on the fence on this issue. However, most of us have very little idea concerning what this spiritual battle involves, and as a result, we either fall casualty to the battle or we end up advancing the efforts of the enemy in his plans. Come and discover how the key of the battle lies in our words.
